I’ve investigated how UAL do their summer shows.
For starters, unlike London Met, they have all the information and dates for their shows up on the website already (and it’s May 29th today). Most other universities are very organised in this aspect. All the advertising for all of the shows they are holding is consistent in visuals and the event times are very clear. The Cass should really take note of this! That aside, UAL have utilised animated banners/icons for advertising of the shows online which is a neat feature. All of these have a consistent visual language and narrative.
Time and consistency is key when arranging exhibitions – if you don’t inform the public early enough, the turn out might not be as big as expected aside from the opening night when special guests are invited. I feel it is a fairly big mistake to start planning for a summer show right at the very end of the school year or right before holidays, when everyone is extremely busy as it is. Perhaps this should be considered for the years to come.
